Men in Black 2:
This movie will make a lot of money this year but that does not by any means make it a good movie. It is a badly done rehash of the first movie with half the wit of the original. This movie gets a 4/10 rating.
The best part of this movie was the trailer for Vin Diesel's new movie Triple X, this trailer rocked! A new kind of Bond for the 21st Century, I cannot wait for this movie.
Synopsis: There is another galactic threat to Earth and those defenders of Earth the Men in Black are back. This time out Agent J no longer the rookie of the first movie needs the help of retired Agent K, cue giant underground worms and singing dogs.
| Director : | Barry Sonnenfeld |
| Starring : | Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones, Johnny Knoxsville, Lara Flynn Boyle and Rip Torn |
Positives :
1. Honestly the trailer for xXx was absolutely brilliant, I hope this film can live up to it's own hype.
2. Rosario Dawson as the love interest for Will was great eye candy even if she turned out to be an alien!
3. Johnny Konxsville of Jackass fame actually gave a decent performance.
Negatives :
Where do I start?
1. The gratuitous use of a large number of different alien species, some of the budget spent on building these aliens should have been spent on a decent script.
2. The action scenes were terrible and not believable to any degree at all
3. The film tries too hard to make us laugh and more often than not fails. Some of the best gags had been shown in the trailers and after seeing those about 3 times even they wore thin.
4. The waste of a great actor like Patrick Warburton is unforgivable, he has a total throwaway role when instead he could have lit up this movie with a more meatier role.
5. A most damaging of all the storyline was not at all engaging and did not make a lot of sense. It seemed that the story at times was just a secondary consideration to the main aim of showing lots of aliens, cool looking gadgets and making wisecracks.
To sum it up this film basically is a disappointment, here hoping the men in black will hang up their suits now.
See ya later,
Shazam!
