After the disappointment of the Matrix Reloaded the last installment in the trilogy did not have to do much to better it. Compared to the first this still is no where as good or original but at least it was not as boring as Reloaded. |

Initially this film seems to pick up where the Reloaded stopped with all the exposition and I thought to myself here we go again, but after about 20 minutes they cut down on the chinese cookie philosophy and get down to the action. The action is the place where this film pays off, there are two major battles in this movie, Neo versus Uber-Smith and Zion versus the machines. They are both done very well and really are the only redeeming features of this movie. The Neo fight with Smith has to be the yardstick now for all future battles between Superheroes just as Neo's flying has set the standard for any future flying scenes. I only wished they had made the fight take place in a better lit environment as I think making it happen on a dark rainy night is a kind of a cheat. One thing I found about this film is that a lot of the characters from the first two films seemed to just have cameos in this movie, Laurence Fishbourne anyone? I am glad that this is trilogy is over now, they should have stuck with just the one because the following two have just tarnished the first one but hindsight is always 20/20. |

I only hope that they will release a DVD that combines the two movies, which is why I have held off from buying Reloaded on disc. In summary this is a decent enough movie but nowhere near the heights of the original and in the end nothing is really resolved in my opinion. The One gets a Six Rating: 6/10 Shazam! |
