This film is meant to depict the last days in the life of christ. While it does this I was starngely left unmoved by this movie for the most part. Mel Gibson in my opiunion makes the mistake of concentrating on the brutality of the beatings and hardships endured by the Christ way too much. By the second half of this movie I was bored by all the beatings and kept on wishing that the movie focused more on the dilemmas of the roman rulers, I found the roman governer the most intereting character in the whole movie and waited for more of his scenes but alas it was not to be. What was the point of Satan who seemed to be hovering all over the place? This to me is just an abitrary decision by the director that seems to have no merit at all and just seemed to confuse matters. The main judge for me of how a film fares for is if I will consider buying the DVD,in this case I have no intenton of doing that at all. Having said all this I would be unfair if I did not mention the fact that my wife and her sister cried their eyes out while watching this movie but I put this down to them being overly emotional women!! My mum was just as bored as me!
I give this movie a disappointly boring 3/10 Shazam! |
