Can Colin Farrell hold a film together by himself? We have seen him in many supporting roles and he seems to carry his weight but what if he is the main focus of a film, will he be upto the task? Well fear no more, in Phone Booth Colin Farrell is not only the main star of the movie he is nearly the only person in it! And this is not a bad thing at all. For ninety percent of this movie the camera is focused on Colin Farrell in a phone booth and despite this it is gripping viewing. |

Colin Farrell goes into the Booth as an arrogant hollywood PR type and by the end of the movie he has transformed into a remorseful half decent fellow, and Colin has the acting chops to make this transformation believeable. The whole idea behind the movie is that Colin's character Stu enters a phone booth not knowing that he is being stalked by a disturbed sniper who calls him in the booth and under the threat of being shot Stu is made to carry out what the sniper thinks are redemptive actions. I will not dwell on this review suffice to say that this is a very good movie and I was engaged from the start to the end, even if I did see the twist ending coming a mile off. The film also stars Forest Whittaker as a cop who in my opinion was the only bit of miscasting in the whole movie. Kiefer Sutherland as the sniper brought his normal intensity to the role. |
