It is here at last folks, the long awaited sequel to Shrek!

Is it better than the first movie? No it is not.

Is it as good as the first movie? No it is not.

Is it a bad movie? No it is not.

These three statements should tell you all you really need to know about this movie.
I heard so many great things about this movie that I went into this movie with great expectations, and once again this year it turned out to be just a so so movie.
My first reaction on leaving the cinema was that I should have taken up the offer to watch a pirated copy that a mate made to me just hours before I went to watch the movie!

It is an okay film with it's fair share of jokes but it was just not as funny and groundbreaking as the first. When you start making Justin Timberlake jokes in a fairytale movie then you are really scraping the barrel.
The Donkey was not as funny as in the first movie and the new character of Puss'n' Boots did not in my mind live up to all the hype even though he had a few moments.
For me the star of the show was the fairy godmother played superbly by Jennifer Saunders, in addition John Cleese as the father-in-law had me laughing a few times but then we all know that John Cleese is a genius.

The film is basiclly a cross between Shrek 1 and Meet the Parents. Shrek and Fiona go to meet Fiona's parents who are not pleased that she has ended up maarying an Ogre and they try to break it up in favour of her marrying Prince Charming. Along the way we meet Puss'n'Boots whose introduction to the film is strangely at odds with his character as seen later on in the film.
We also see the return of a lot of the favourites from the first movie like the gingerbread man, the blind mice, the 3 pigs and Pinoccho.

Please if you have kids or young nephews and nieces then by all means take them as they will enjoy it for all it's worth otherwise wait for the DVD.

PS. do not leave the cinema till after the credits as there is a little bit more funny stuff.

This gets a happy ending of 6/10
