xXx:

Synopsis: The NSA need to infiltrate the group called Arnachy-99 and after losing three of their agents, they realise their run of the mill agents are not up to the task, it's time to bring in a new type of agent, step up Xander Cage.

A new breed of secret agent for a new generation, he's brash, he's extreme and he has loads of attitude, say hello to Xander Cage.

In the beginning of this movie a James Bond type is disposed of we know that this is a whole new ball game, we are then introduced to a new kind of M in the shape of Samuel L Jackson with his cooler than cool shtick, there is also new Q as well who happens to be a geek from MIT who seemed to have walked of a Buffy the Vampire set.

Well I am here to tell Bond that he has nothing to worry about, if this is the best that the new generation can come up with then it looks like Mr Bond will be needed for quite a while longer. After watching this brain dead stunt feast I am actually looking forward to the next Bond movie even more!

This  film is definitely aimed at the MTV generation and makes no bones about it, we have an extreme sports guy who has an underground web site following his stunts and he is about to get made into a video game, way to set out your stall guys.

The action in this movie is totally over the top and gets worse the longer the film goes on, I found the way the characters tried to act cool and spout one-liners very irritating. The script is abysmal and even Vin Diesel's charismatic delivery of the lines cannot elevate it above the dreck it is.

The plot is based on the fact that a group called Anarchy-99 full of ex-Russian army types who have decided they want to overthrow governments of the world and let chaos reign supreme, the NSA need someone to infiltrate this group, someone who will be at home with this group of hardcore types, someone who can speak their lingo. This leads them to testing some criminal types and Xander Cage passes with full colours.

This film stars Asia Argento who happens to be the daughter of some famous director I am made to understand, her role is that of the typical bond girl and no more which I find very funny considering that I saw an interview with her where she was being very disdainful of the Bond movies and the role the girls play in it! Well Miss Argento let me tell you, any of the Bond movies and the Bond girls are a cut above the role you have in xXx.

I am being very harsh on this film mainly because when I first saw the trailers I thought it looked great, well it does look and sound good but good looking does not make a film. This could have been so much more if it had a little bit of more effort put into the script and if they had dialled down the so called high octane stuff.

I hope Vin Diesel will not let this franchise be the definition of him as I have always had some hope that he could be a good actor and if he is to be that then he will have to find better fare than this.
